Our Past Interns

SUMMER 2026 INTERNS:

1- Bengi Can Bengül (Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University – Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering)
2- Ömer Faruk Çayır (Izmir Institute of Technology – Department of Bioengineering)

Throughout their summer internship at EHR-LAB, our interns actively participated in every stage of biomedical engineering projects, from end to end. They demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility, work discipline, and team spirit across a range of activities—spanning from field applications at the Mersin University Faculty of Sports Sciences to the setup of experimental apparatus from scratch in the laboratory environment.

During the internship, they had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with, set up, test, and operate various biomedical measurement devices, most notably the Delsys surface electromyography (sEMG) system, force platforms for Center of Pressure (CoP) measurements, the OpenBCI EEG system, and wearable sensor technologies such as the MYO Armband. They were directly involved in stages such as participant preparation, sensor and electrode placement, checking device connections, data recording, and evaluating measurement quality, all in accordance with established research protocols.

Our interns played an active role not only in data collection processes but also in the organization, preprocessing, analysis, and visualization of the acquired biomedical signals. In this context, they advanced their signal processing and data analysis skills by developing custom code in the MATLAB environment and presented analysis results clearly through graphs and numerical outputs. Furthermore, they went beyond merely evaluating results from a technical standpoint, developing a data-driven, critical, and scientific approach to interpretation. Within EHR-LAB’s interdisciplinary framework, they engaged with researchers from fields such as electrical-electronics engineering, physiotherapy, sports sciences, and health sciences, contributing to the discussion of findings from diverse disciplinary perspectives. This process significantly enhanced our interns' skills in teamwork, scientific communication, problem-solving, and bridging different areas of expertise.

Overall, our interns made significant and dedicated contributions to EHR-LAB’s activities through their openness to learning, their diligent and timely completion of tasks, their rapid adaptation to technical matters, and their willingness to take initiative. We are confident that the students who successfully completed their internships will effectively apply the practical experience and research competencies they have gained to their future academic and professional endeavors, and we extend our gratitude to them for their outstanding effort and contributions.
